The children in Year 3 and 4 visited the British Museum today. They have been learning about the Anglo-Saxons and were able to see study artefacts in detail, looking for different patterns and designs, making links between objects and crafts and considering why certain materials have survived better than others.
Guess which story we have been learning in Little Owls this week? We have enjoyed listening to ‘Whatever Next’ and going in a space rocket to the moon for a picnic. Some of the children found out it takes up to four days to get to the moon.
We discovered a sunflower head in our outside area. The children explored the flower head with the magnifying glasses and found ‘loads of seeds’. They explored the seeds with the tweezers and drew pictures of the flower head.
We have been enjoying the sunshine and returning to our weekly swimming lessons. We are very fortunate to have our own swimming pool and we can use it in the summer months and in the first half of the Autumn term. Loots of fun splashing around and learning how to swim.
Year 2 took part in a messy day today. They participated in lots of scientific exploration with lots of opportunities to apply their oracy skills. They have been listening to the story of George’s Marvellous Medicine.
We have been learning about portraiture from Nursery to Year 6. We spent the day using a range of materials and skills. We have learnt about different portraiture artists including Croydon based Kay Lovesah.
