MFL Vision

At Gilbert Scott, the children in KS2 learn Spanish. Learning a modern foreign language is an important part of being a member of a multicultural society. Our MFL curriculum is planned, using the LCP Primary Spanish Resources and aims to foster the children ‘s curiosity and deepen their understanding of other cultures and the world. Through learning Spanish our children will have the ability to communicate through speech and writing. It helps to lay the foundations for MFL learning at KS3.

MFL Intent

At Gilbert Scott, the children in KS2 learn Spanish and develop their curiosity and understanding of the world, gaining an appreciation of different cultures and communities around the world. This will build
upon our whole-school focus on diversity. Our children deepen their understanding and develop confidence, fluency and spontaneity in Spanish. Our MFL curriculum is planned, using the LCP Primary Spanish Resources. “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” Nelson Mandela
